A wide range of sports and recreational activities are available to locals and expatriates in Vietnam. Gyms, playgrounds, and fitness sites are plentiful in major cities, including mountain biking, trekking, golf, and yoga, and cater to all skill levels.

Gym memberships in Vietnam

You will find gyms and sports centers in most Vietnamese cities, including Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. You can practice familiar indoor activities such as cardio exercises, weight-lifting, and pickleball. Gyms or fitness centers often have group classes available, too. You also won't struggle to find private yoga, dance, or pilates studios outside the gym, while the ones included in your membership may not have an English instructor.

Check out for locations across the country or in Hanoi or in Ho Chi Minh City.

Outdoor activities in Vietnam

Vietnamese are an active population but prefer to work out at dawn or dusk when it's not so hot outside. You will see aerobic classes and people playing badminton or walking very frequently. All parks will offer exercise equipment as a neat initiative for people to build more fitness into their daily routines.

膼谩 c岷 is a 2-4-person activity widely practiced in Vietnam. It is played using a device that looks very similar to a shuttlecock and is great for building and toning muscle, as well as working on your reflexes!

If you are a swimmer, you will find outdoor swimming pools in the major cities. These are often frequented by foreigners or young families. The Bach Khoa swimming pool in Hanoi or the Van Thanh swimming pool in Ho Chi Minh City are great places to exercise and be social at the same time.

Sports in the Vietnam countryside

You can enjoy trekking and mountain biking in the countryside of Vietnam with rocky and mountainous areas and nature parks. There are several hiking groups or weekend trekking clubs to get you out of the city and breathe mountain air. This will also allow you to become more familiar with the outdoors-oriented lifestyles of Vietnamese living in the different provinces.

Canoeing or kayaking in the rivers and the sea are popular activities that everyone enjoys. When in a coastal region, water sports, such as diving, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, and snorkeling, are available too. Several golf courses are also available. Some of the best include Bluffs Ho Tram Strip, Hoiana Shores, and Montgomerie Links Vietnam.
