Shipping a car to Accra

david lee 1

I was looking to ship a car to Accra to have transportation while I was there but the import fees  were outrageous . This was a older car with not much value  . Is the import fees ever going to change so Ghana can compete with the foreign Market?

Unfortunately there is no imminent change coming up. The fees are a way of the Govt filling their coffers.

Levies, fees, taxes, excise duties etc are parts and parcels of what keep the National treasury Coffers going.

If you are not ready to part with the sums involved, I would sincerely advise that you purchase another car whilst in Ghana. They are relatively very affordable.

I too would suggest you look on accraexpat.com or Ghana International ²ÝÁñÉçÇøs for a car. If you are only staying for a short time then use Uber or hire a car. It isn't easy to navigate the Accra traffic when you first arrive so having someone drive you helps you to get your bearings.
