Art supplies & professional printing services in Mauritius

Namarie

Hello to you all!
As I am preparing to move to Mauritius I need to find out if there are Art supplies & professional printing services, also how fast and stable the internet is, for online teaching for example? Hope somebody knows and can possibly shed some light on the above. Best Wishes and enjoy beautiful Mauritius .

Hello Namarie, the internet is good and stable, from experience, across the island. I would recommend Mauritius Telecom. A speed test just returned very slightly under 20 Mps download and 5 Mps upload.

Also for art supplies and printing there are lots of options in all the major residential areas (the north, east, centre and west). I think you will find prices more competitive away from the main tourist areas e.g. Curepipe, Vacoas, Quatre Bornes, Port Louis etc.

I hope that helps a little.

Thank you for the info, but internet seems basic at that speed? Art materials
are the most important for me now, could you recommend the most arty
place to live in Mauritius? That would help with my direction, but a big hug
for your reply and info!

You're very welcome. You can get bigger packages if you need and the service Mauritius Telecom provides is pretty responsive:

For the most arty place, this may help.
It's pretty spread out but perhaps in the north around Point Aux Canonniers would be a good start. It's a nice spot, with plenty of good facilities like shops and restaurants and a nice beach. Good luck!

Hi Namarie. My name is Lynn Smith and I run an art atelier in Calodyne in the north of Mauritius. See Artspace Mauritius on Facebook or my.com.
You can buy quite a few art materials here but very limited and nothing that’s expensive ... so difficult to get fine artists oils/ acrylics  for instance ... so I put a monthly order in to Sennelier and Raphael for myself and the students which normally takes around 6 weeks to get here. If you plan it’s ok.
Where abouts are you going to move to ?
Presumably once they lift restriction ... hopefully not long .
You can contact me if you’d like any more info etc by WhatsApp message on 59377832.
Good luck with everything ðŸ‘

Hi Namarie - as far as art supplies go, I suggest bringing as much of it with you as you can, and being prepared to top up your stock whenever you go overseas as the product choices are very limited here.

These are the two main art supply shops:
