Tips for 2 month stay in Rabat

Cinnabon

Hi all,

I'm an American student who will be doing an internship this summer during June and July in Rabat. I'll be working at Chouhada (that might be a building's name...not really sure) for the CCDH, and I'm looking for some tips as I begin to figure out an apartment, etc.

First of all, I'll probably want to stay relatively close to work, or at least not too far...what's the name of the area I'll be in, and could anyone give me a quick description of it? (Is it expensive, residential, etc). What are some nearby areas that offer apartments I could rent, preferably on the slightly cheaper side.

I don't really know an appropriate price for an apartment...could anyone give me some ballpark figures for a small-ish place, preferably furnished, in a couple areas in Rabat?

What's the best way to find an apartment? Would it be at all reasonable to try and figure it out upon arrival, or should I sort it out now?

Finally, I speak English and Arabic (some Egyptian and decent Fusha, no Moroccan), but no French. Will people be willing to talk to me (a white dude) in Arabic? Slightly fusha-y Arabic?

Looking forward to a good summer! Sorry I'm completely ignorant of even the name of the area I'm staying in, and thanks for any help!

hey if u can give the exact adress as am not sure how many offices they have in rabat i think its in place al shouhada which is in Bab Al hed in Rabat not far from city center its nice area you can get nice flats in that area in bab al hed or Ocean and rent in those areas is not that expensive, you can check marocannonces.com but its not in english or best way is to stay i hotel first days and check by your self once you are there and in Rabat Tramway will start operating in June so transportation will not be big problem.
Hope you will enjoy your stay

hi there, I was in Morocco last December and I stayed mostly in apartments. The site I used was:  homelidays.co.uk
Check it out. It's awesome and I will use it again when I move this year to Morocco.
