Hi Chandy890,

I moved my car from France to Tanzania a year and half ago and what I can say is that it is better to have a clearing agent that will clear your car out of the port for you.
Our car stayed 3 weeks at the port and we were using an agent that could follow up so I believe that without him it would have been worse. I was happy having done that considering the cost of the car here. They will make you pay as custom duty 30 percent of the value of the car. Value that they calculate so this is when the clearing agent is usefull as he can talk for you. They calculate the value depending on the model, year, new or second hand etc....
If you prefer to buy a car it will cost you minimum 6 million for a starlet or Vitz (small car) 11 million for a Limo noah. This is just an indication. If you need some clearing agents I can give you some company contact details.
Otherwise rest assured that you will LOVE living in Tanzania !!!
