Hi, My wife and my 11 year old daughter are about to move to Cambodia early next year and we have not got a set plan in place but we are thinking of running a small guesthouse, are there any problems with the athorities with that idea.How difficult is it to move from country to country without as we are getting a one way ticket.Is it possible to cross the border and then renter Cambodia and do we have to have a working visa.

you can get a business visa on arrival, which you will have then to extend (you can have 3,6 months ,1 year extensions).Until now there is no sign this practice will be changed; there has been a recent influx of Africans formerly living in Bangkok and chased away from there by the Thai police , and some of them are making troubles here ( drug dealing and bank frauds), of course cops and politicians are not amazed, so I preview some measures will be taken in a near future.
If you want to run a guest house there is no problem, you will have to get a commercial license, and a tax license, that's it.

Er...where exactly are you heading to? SIhanoukville or Siem Reap?

Thanks for your info Siem Reap is where we thinking of ,we have a friend there that is managering a guest house there which she loves.We met her in Vietnam last year.any other info you can give would be great ,we hope we can handle the heat as i believe the humity is the killer.ok talk later.Jeff
