Westerner playing acoustic music in Siem Reap

superfuzzymomma

Am I able to use my musical talent in country?  I will be traveling with my guitar (in hopes it will not implode under the humidity)! Would there be a market for a singer songwriter who is versed in classic rock stuff?  Could I sit myself down on Pub Street and begin to play, for instance? - Is it legal, or at all acceptable?  Would there be an interest for a westerner playing rock and roll in general anywhere in country, the beach and Siem Reap especially?

Thank you - Peace!
Glenn

PS - I am planning on visiting Cambodia in December of this year, or January '15.  I would like to hear from anyone in the TriState area who might be interested in a traveling partner.

Hey hows it going? not sure how much help this will be for you but i was in Phnom Penh for three months testing the waters last year and loved it. I had a set twice a week at a backpackers rooftop bar which was amazing, not something that would enable you to live on, but free accomodation and evening meal. Plus a great way to meet other like minders. Bars and backpackers love people who they can rely on for entertainment and im sure siem reap will be the same, especially on pub street! Best way is to get out there and turn up at bars and give the staff a sample of what you can do and they'll have you on if thier interested .Im heading back to phnom penh in November, maybe see you on the curcuit!

Hi - Thank you, Grace

I don't need to make a living...rather put out a hat and donate to charities....but your reply was very helpful!  I hope so very much to see you later on in the year!  Grace - is such a lovely name - and the name of those who help.

Please allow me to add you as a contact to be sure we can speak again soon.

Peace and love to you
