The other day I saw someone on a nice looking Triumph, possibly a Bonnie.

I suggest you check out the motorcycle hire places for information on Triumph riders. There is a motorcycle adventure tour company that would be worth checking out too.

There is a Facebook page for Lao motorbike discovery tours. There are plenty of HD riders in Vientiane too.
