Access to Suspended Public Bank Account from Overseas

asifsheq

Hello fellow members,

I hope some of you can shed some light on the questions I have below.

I left Malaysia last year, but my bank account with Public Bank remained active. I had some funds in the account and even received a bonus this year, which was credited to the same account. However, I recently discovered that I can no longer access my funds, as the account appears to be suspended.

I contacted Public Bank’s customer care, and they advised me to get in touch with the branch directly. I have since been sending multiple emails to the branch, but I haven’t received any response.

I no longer hold an Employment Pass (EP), and I don’t have any plans to return to Malaysia. I’m quite worried and unsure how to resolve this issue remotely.

Has anyone faced a similar situation or can suggest what steps I can take to access my account and recover my funds?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Banking in Asia is a bit "behind". I have an account in Malaysia as well as in Ipoh. Both set to inactive due to the fact they had not been accessed in a long time. Bangkok Bank wants me to come by their headoffice in Bangkok. (I have no plans of travelling to Thailand.

Maybank Malaysia asks me to visit a certain branch, which I will do in November. Luckely both accounts do not hold a lot of money.

Unfortunately for you I do ot think you et things done via email.

I would suggest to call them if they do not answer your email.

Maybe an option would be to give someone you know in Malaysia the power of attorney?
