Importing Pets and arriving into KL

kalani73

I am hoping that  someone out there that has experienced bringing their cats into Malaysia from the US.  Im asking bc I am being told confusing and varying info. ON one hand IM told ( by Korean Air and various pet relocators) that I can bring my cat into cabin with me upon arriving into Malaysia.
I am also being told AND i read on the Dept of Vet Service of Malaysia that ALL pets have to arrive in cargo. DOes anyone have experience with this . Thank you.

Pets cannot be in the cabin on international flights

From a similar discussion on another forum last week

"Where in US? Are they travelling with them? Best is to use a most direct flight..xxx to LAX or SFO, BOS, NYC or ORD then Cathay Pacific to HK and then Penang. Or else Singapore Airlines via Singapore. Make sure all the shots and papers are in order. There is a quarantine period."

yes, pets can be in the cabin on Int'l fights ( ie, Korean Air, Asiana, Air France, KLM)  But Pets cannot land in Malaysia in the cabin.....  but it is possible to take her in cabin to LAX< the from LAX to ICN, then put her in as "excess baggage.."
still researching all this....
IM just trying to find someone who actually did this journey and route.

Thx,
