Compared to the U.S. figure 75 cents on the dollar.  To live here.  A small town even cheaper.   So how many trips a week to town?   Small town live closer to the beach and  town. But not as good a market, and going out. So what is quit?      Were I live I can go to any market and most malls for 20 peso trike ride and 7 peso jeepney to any to shop or early night life. Taxi home 150 peso. And go to beach .rent hut. And eat and have 2 beer for the day for 1000 peso a day.  from here.  500 peso is taxi fare to beach and back.   So location is important here to do such.  Yes I like the beach 1 or 2 times a week. But houses on the beach show damage from storms as well. And in a storm do you have power? Next to beach they are out 3 or 4 days here. Near town 1 day most.  So consider transportation and how far to market, as to how close to beach you wish to be.  Lots of beach places you can rent here. But wait a hour for taxi to take you to town.  Then taxi home.  Look at the whole picture before you sign the lease.   And all you wish here.

Thanks for the info, that's not quit but quiet as in peace and not too much noise. I don't want to live on the beach but within half an hour to a hour from it on higher ground in case of floods, Laoag looks good too.
