Anyone knows where can I dispose my bottles, cans and papers. I've been living in Makati for few mnonths now and I have not seen any recycling bin at all.

There are no place to dispose your recyclables Im afraid.

Have you not seen that Filipinos dispose their garbage along the streets, creeks and rivers ?

Hey there...

I had the same problem when I lived in a condo near my work place. Usually there are what we locals call "bote dyaryo"

These are people who go around the metro asking for used bottles, newspapers, etc.

Try and see if there are some like that going around your place. If not, you can just throw it in with your other junk. Just make sure you segregate. :)

Oh! You can also try to go online and search for local junk yards but I don't think there are junk yards near Makati. There are many in downtown Manila though but I guess that's far from your place.

goodluck! :)

well if you're into recycling then there are places where you can go to and sell your old news papers and bottles. But if you are to drive, might as well just throw them with your other garbage, because the money you will get will be much less than the amount you will buy for gasoline. Don't worry when they collect all the garbage from the Metro, kids and some grown ups search the pile for anything they can sell.

Sometimes, I see small recycling cans in front of SM.

There is no recycling program here in Metro Manila, at least not that I know of.  So, the best way to handle your recyclables is to reuse.

With paper and cardboard, I reuse them at my office for wrapping / packing merchandise.  Same thing with plastic and paper bags.

It's a bit tricky with cans, bottles, and plastics. Can't use them at my work.  Once a week, a cart-pushing peddler / collector comes by to pick up our plastics, bottles, and cans.  I have the maid collect our recyclables, and sell them to the peddler.  It's not much, so I just let her pocket the money.

I believe that most of these bottles and plastics that aren't damaged or broken get reused.  Some backyard businesses use water bottles, say as containers for the liquid dish soap they sell.  I've seen honey and vinegar in reused whiskey bottles.
