Sri Lanka Retirement

108ragnar

I am having trouble getting accurate information on how expat retirees are taxed in Sri Lanka. There is no mention of whether expat foreign incomes (pensions, capital gains, etc.) are taxed, and if so, at what rate. So far, the only place I have found that does not tax foreign income at all is the Philippines. Also, it looks like the My Dream Home retirement program is not available anymore, and I can't see anything that replaces it. The only visa for long term stays seems to be a 30 day renewable visitor's visa with restricted exit/entry. Can anyone here tell me if this is correct or not? I find the Sri Lanka government websites to be vague and lacking useful information.

No residency visas of any type are available at the moment unfortunately . Only alternative is the 30 day tourist visa with 3 month extensions. Keep having to exit here which is becoming very expensive and frustrating

Thanks. They seem to be shooting themselves in the foot. What will happen to all the retirement and long term care homes built on the hope of attracting foreigners?
