50cc Motorbike Changes Coming?

Travelfar

Does anyone have more info (or a link) to the 50cc motorbike changes coming?  That's what I drive now, after driving Honda 125cc LEADS for the past 10-15 years.

Hi Travelfar. From what I understand, the changes to VN driver's licenses were enacted on Jan1st, 2025.

Riders of bikes up to 50cc will continue to be exempt from having to be licensed. The new legislation will permit holders of an A1 license to drive bikes from 50cc up to a maximum of 125cc. Prior to Jan1st, an A1 license permitted the operation of bikes up to 175cc.

If a rider currently holds an A1 license, issued prior to Jan1st, they will still be permitted to operate bikes up to 175cc (until the expiration of their license).  A1 licenses issued post-Jan1st are restricted to the 125cc maximum.

Hope that helps.

I am sure it may help those who currently hold and qualify for an A1 license.  I do not since I am here on a VEC.

With a 50cc bike I believe you're still good to go.

There's talk of implementing a test for 50cc riders in the future, but as of now there is none.
