going to travel to belize soon wondering how import charges work. Do you have to pay import charges say on a boat and hoiiday trailer right away if you are moving there.

Yes, you have to pay import duties on anything you bring into Belize, if you plan to live here. The amount depends on the item.

Import duty on a fiberglass boat is roughly 34% of value of the boat (Duty is 20%, plus 12.5% GST, plus 2% enviro tax). Cannot import a wooden boat to Belize from US or Canada.

If you relocate here on the QRP, the boat would be duty free, if you bring it over in your first year of residency.
