Moving a large dog to Panama

My name is Cheryl. My husband, Chad and I are planning on moving to Panama in the next few months. We already own a house with some friends in Playa Coronado. We are also working with an immigration attorney to obtain our visas.

I am looking for advice on the best way to transport our dog when we are ready to move. I have looked into some of the companies that specialize in moving pets internationally and was wondering if anyone has used one of these companies to move their dog. It is pretty expensive and looks like we would have to drive him from St. Paul to the Miami airport, which is fine as long as he gets there safely.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with this.
