Exchanging my ID (E) Card for ID (M) card

daverwilliams

Hello my name is Dave,
I live in Antwerp.

Does anyone have any information of how to exchange my ID (E) Card for an M card now BREXIT is done ?
The town Hall is not taking appointments on the Antwerp Website and there is in fact no information that I can see on exchanging my ID Card.

Thanks for any info you may have,
Dave

Hello,

you'll have more information in the next coming weeks / months.
Every UK expats will receive a letter from their commune/immigration inviting them to renew their current ID card BEFORE the 31/12/2021 to keep all your current advantage of the EU freedom of movement that you still have.

I don't know the M card and it's not an official one...
I think you'll either get a B or a D one, depending if you're working or not (or keep the E one until it expires). But I admit that I couldn't find any official source yet on the matter.

So... no worries for now, just make sure you goes to the commune before the end of the year to keep all your current rights.

i've exchanged my card for an M card but now I can't access any online services. I get a fault every time I try log in. It doesn't seem to be an E-ID card.

I did check and the M card is perfectly valid.
It's a card that allow you to keep all your current advantage of the EU freedom of movement like before.

I had the same issues with the F card of my significant other, it was working few weeks later after receiving it.
If it's been more than 2 months, you should contact the helpdesk of the website you're trying to reach or your commune.
