Touristy long weekend in Zagreb

Tralong

If you know Zagreb well: can you recommend things to do, places to see, what to avoid & where to eat well on a 1st-time long weekend in Zagreb in October. I just want to sample a different place (I'm living at the moment in Ireland), see how it ticks, feel the flavor......¿Anything special about Zagreb that says "come here for your long weekend"?

Hi!
I recommend that you first visit the upper city, and then the new Zagreb
As far for coffe shops, it is best to go to the Jelacic place or Flower square and look for any, because they are all good, there is nothing special that should be avoided. The rest depends on your preferences. You can visit botanical garden or the park Maksimir, or shopping centers. At a kiosk (news stand) you can buy a  map of the city, all the streets and lines of buses and trams are marked so that everyone can make a plan of sightseeing without guide. You can visit this site for more information

and if you need a place to stay you can try here

I was there last summer.
