Can a pensioner move to Denmark?

kinneba

I am myself an expat from the US and have lived in DK for 45 years. I still have my American passport, am married to a Dane and we have a Danish child, now an adult.

I have an aging father, also US citizen, living in Paris France. He is married to a French woman and has permanent residence there. I am looking into the possibility of moving him to DK. A few years ago I asked the foreigners service what his chances were. The representative told me that the chances were slim, but if he was granted permanent residence in DK, that his French residency would pay for his health care in DK.

Anyone have experience with this?

Hi.
As far as I know, if you have a visa to a Schengen country you can live in any other Schengen country, about medical insurance, I do not know.

Good luck with it.

I thought Denmark had free medical care based on Universalism , like for all regardless how many years one has worked in Denmark etc...????

Maybe it is because your father does not have a French passport and thereby EU passport
