Buying a car in England

Kenjee

Hi,

To be able to move in England, a lot of expatriates think of buying a car, whether new or second-hand.

What are the formalities to buy a vehicle in England: car registration, insurance, etc.?

What are the relevant authorities or organizations to contact?

How long does it take and what are the associated costs?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Kenjee

Hi,

I see you posted long ago, but I joined recently to expat.

First of all if you new to England, I suggest you to go for second hand car its cheap over there, within 1000 pounds you get nice cars.

Owner registration is very easy after buying car, just you need to fill form which you get from previous owner just need to send it back to DVLA with your name and address and sign.

For buying car you need to check MOT, Tax, (Where MOT you need to get it done every year its like fitness test for car every year you need to get it done). Tax which you can pay yearly or half yearly it depends on car (Usually for diesel car tax is less compare to petrol cars).

If you still looking for car, just reply here I provide you information I know about insurance and second hand car websites and all.
