Niederlassungserlaubnis application delayed- Munich Ausländerbörde

kranthi kumar

Hallo all,

I applied for a permanent residence permit on June 20, 2024 and paid my fees. I even received a confirmation email. After 17 weeks, Now I have received the answer that there is no application in my name and no documents need to be checked. They asked me to send the documents again. I sent them all like 3 weeks, Its been 20 weeks. Til now KVR did not gave any reply or update on my application. When I call them they are telling me to wait. I see many people are getting replies and appointment in 12 weeks but why is a lot of delay for my application.

Can someone please give me some suggestions how to tackle this situation?

Thanks

Many foreigners offices ("Ausländerbehörde"), especially in big cities, are hopelessly understaffed, overworked, inefficient and chaotic. What you describe is not surprizing - nearer to the norm than being an outlier.

Yet there is no way to avoid dealing with your regional one, even if it is slow and difficult.

I have heard of people moving to another town with a better-run office, but this isn't possible for most. The alternative is being patient, persistent and able to withstand frustration - after all, it doesn't matter to them whether you get the residency now, or in a year, or two, so why does it for you?

Welcome to German officialdom!
