Absolutely Anything Else
Another day another stabbing, this time in Nice, France. 1 pupil dead (female), and 3 injured. Supposedly it's not terror related. UK news was a bit sketchy as it was breaking. So I looked on French news, so it was a private school and happed at 12.30pm. The pupil dressed in black with a balaclava stabbed the first pupil on the 2nd floor and then went downstairs and stabbed the others. He was stopped from doing anymore harm when the teachers brought him down. The police arrived quickly and then arrested him on the premises.
Mixed reports on why... We will have to see.
It really is just a tidy up on the on the back, he still does his beard. I'm pretty sure he gives a tipp. He has never been tight when it came to showing gratitude. He knew what it was like for me working in hospitality, and he paid his way through college in London as a musician in clubs.He isn't filthy rich, he is comfortable though compared to other pensioners. He always was careful with his money all his life. - @SimCityAT
I'm quite prepared to be filthy and rich when I'm a pensioner.   But I think the end result will be something different.  Bit of positiveness trying be clean and ultimately penniless.
My mum used to cut our hair growing up as kids and continued until her death for my dad. Never trained but my dad never had much hair so couldn't go wrong, and he had had a beard trimmer. He does go now to the hairdresser because it's nice for him to be pampered. But at £5 you can't complain. - @SimCityAT
My mom used to TRIM our fringe, bangs the night before school photos were taken!
Yikes I was about 11 when I started to trim my own!
Poor kids, if you look back at all school photos, most kids look a wreck due to their moms trims.
Now though, I see parents taking even their young sons in for hair highlights!!
When I was 4 years old I had the longest hair, went below my hips and was always in 2 braids; people always said how nice and long my hair was.
We were moving from Conn; to Ca by car, 4 children and our parents; My mother did not wish to deal with my long hair so she cut it into a chin length Bob. Cute but I was a bit sad to see my hair go.
Whenever my hair got half way down my back, mom always pulled out the shears, rather the sissors, probably ones used to cut paper and cloth!
I could be a bugger of a little sister at times. I remember once when my teenage sister had a boy waiting in the house for her to go out with him.
I decided to show him an old school photo of her before her hair looked Mod and before her braces came off her teeth!
Not sure she ever forgave me for that!

Did your teenage sister's date work out after the photos?
I'm just wondering when kids start thinking about their own looks etc.  Usually when they are about seven or eight they realise they are independent beings, separate from their mothers. I'd say less so than the fathers.
I guess when they realise they could have BFs and GFs they become more conscious of their appearance and how they appear to each other. Â
My sister, Myra was a real Swan. An ugly duckling type. Even was sent to fresh air camps for free as a child because of her asthma and being so thin and weak looking.
Started out questionable due to her teeth and being super skinny but she bloomed by 16, 17. Was a fashion model for a short while too. Her husband put a stop to modeling because it is a shady business.
All I know is the guys liked her allot!
Freaked me out at times, 2 or 3 phone calls for dates on a Saturday.
She was a bit much, had a little black book of guys names etc;
Had a rating scale too, one was good for dinner, another for fun, one for brainy stuff etc.
She kept notes!
I once asked her when I was still single, why if we looked somewhat like twins, why did guys stay away from me while she had several bothering her at once?
She said I had the vibe of being too serious and not messing around which put off guys who were not serious about getting involved long term;
OH well, fine with me, who needed flaky people around anyways?
At her funeral 3 exs of hers got together and paid for her cremation and all expenses.
2 of them were married at the time and their wives knew my sister from the times she was dating their then single husbands.Pretty wild stuff!
One guy we really liked, he was from the UK and worked as a film editor at Hanna Barbara studios; A real gent of a guy who also was a private pilot, had his own bi plane.Even let my sister fly it a few times with him doing the co piloting.
Even my stoic rough on the edges husband liked him allot, they chatted about football allot at family dinners and got on very well.
Another nice guy was a lawyer , who later sent his wife to law school; My sister could of been her if she wanted, she did not want to get married again after her first divorce.
Another guy was an insurance adjuster who made allot of money and was nice. He bought my sister a custom painted brand new BMW but she told him to keep it if it meant he owned her in any way! She was happy with her beat up VW bug with the duct tape holding the lights in place!
A true freedom lover she was.
Not sure what she had that drove these guys crazy but she had it in spades.
Makes me also wonder what was up with Patti Boyd?
Married to both George Harrison and Eric Clapton but still found herself alone.
Unreal how Eric stole her away from George, really nasty in my mind.
My sister wore her hair like Patti back in the late 60s, maybe it was all about the hair?

It was a bit more complicated than that, Harrison was having affairs even Boyd had a couple. So don't think you could say that Eric stole her from George.

Eric had a serious problem with drugs and drink back in the day. I did like his rendition of Cocaine (original: JJ Cale) and he was great in Cream. Perhaps his addictions was one of the things which attracted Patty Boyd although of course George and all the Beatles dallied with drugs in their hippy period. .  I've never been really turned on by Clapton as a singer and original artist.  He was and is a great technical guitar player and he should really should have stuck to that and let others grab the limelight. I am not sure even if I could identify an original Clapton hit - plenty of covers though.  Harrison in my mind was the better original song writing talent.
Anyways, Boyd is still alive and 81. Amazing!  BTW, her hair looks a mess!
@fluffy2560
Swinging 60s and into the 70s they were all dabbling with some form of drugs. Cannabis, LSD, Cocaine, Heroin probably a lot more I've not heard of, and had wild parties.

Your sis Myra sounds like quite a character.  Did she ever actually settle down with anyone?  Kids? I know you said she had a husband but did he last long considering the others in her black book?  She sounds like she could have had a pick of a number of good suitors.
There are some people who just seem to attract others one way or another. Mrs F and I are quite a good example - somehow we're good together (30 years!).  It just works. Maybe we're just lucky.
On the other hand, we have relatives both here and in the UK who seem to have great difficulty finding someone. Those people have had a few relations and that's lost them time.  We think those relatives might not be able to find partners now. At least not to have kids etc.  They are getting too old and fewer available fish in the sea.  Shame really but that's life.  We also have some relatives who have opted not to have kids and they've zoomed in on themselves and their dog.  It's not our business but it's quite different to our life choices - our focus is probably 100% the kids. It's changing of course as they get older and independent.  I am not entirely sure we'll get "payback" for that effort but we were never looking for that. We're not doing it to gain anything. Getting them to adulthood and enjoyable lives will be our success.
Sorry, wittering on a bit.Â
Sunday is a slow day news or other - been to tidy up (finally) at the MIL's and also been doggy walking. Weather was really good but it's a bit cold at night now.  It was like 23C during the day and it's on 12C now at 20.15.

Oh yes, totally. Take the Beatles - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.  That's to say, it's no coincidence it spells out L S D.  Great track.
And then there's Puff the Magic Dragon. The singers/writers denied any connection but who were they kidding? I loved that song when I was a kid.
And of course, it's all been going on a lot longer than we might think.
I'm thinking of Chinese opium dens in the Wild West out to California and Coca-Cola was supposedly based on Cocaine. Oy vay!
@fluffy2560
And then you only have to look at some of the children's programmes, I swear they must have been high as kite to come up with some of the show's. The Magic Roundabout, for one. 😄

Magic Roundabout was actually French. I think a lot of the stories around that programme were to do with the voice overs and the script.  Dougal was my favourite.Â
The creepiest show has to be Jim'll Fix It. If you look at that show, you can actually see Jimmy Savile the Pervert at work touching up the kids.  It's amazing no-one really noticed and even more shocking is that no-one said anything!Â

Yes, you are right, it is more complicated then him just crushing on her.
One big reason my sister divorced her only husband was he was trying to pick up her BFF while my sister was delivering their baby in the hospital!!
Good thing her friend was a true one and told him off and told her about it. Think that was the year 1970.

Yes, my sister was a bit too much at times.
My mother said she regretted fixing her buck teeth. She said she would of been a more humble person if she was not so pretty.
My mom was a humble person. Loved seeing people have a good time, loved to dance and sing but was not afraid to work hard if needed.Typical of her generation I guess.
There was a period of about one year when my husband put his foot down and banned me from calling my sister or seeing her.
IDK, whatever crazy stuff she did had nothing to do with me or how I lived my life but everyone thought she was a bad influence. Bad Company so to speak; Even our mother told me to stay clear of her!
OK, I admit we still chatted when he was not around but I did not see her for a long while.
She really could be too much and could be outrageous at the wrong time.
She could get away with murder, really even talked herself out of DUI, driving under the influence several times.
This is horrible to say now but in her 20s she was stopped for a DUI but knew how to handle the cops; Big smile,nice hello and was following their directions to get out of her car BUT she first had to get her crutches from the back seat; What?? She acted like she had polio or something so they felt bad and just told her to be careful!!
Another time at a boring office job her female boss told her she could not leave her desk so often to use the WC. She went in there to probably get a snort if I knew her or just to stretch her legs, IDK; Well she told her boss that she was embarrassed to tell her that she suffered with an urostomy bag!! Total lie!
She was super smart but always used her brains to get her way.Her boss felt so bad she told her to get up anytime she wanted to!
Devil with a red dress on!
Times are getting desperate for people.
My friend in Vegas just gave me a scare;
Their condo is on the bottom floor of the building. She is in a wheelchair so without a lift they had to move to the bottom floor;
They have a patio and a storage room.
Last night she asked her husband to open the sliding glass door for some fresh air.
They were in their living room chatting and watching tv;
Her husband found that while they were relaxing, just a few feet away on their patio they were robbed;
He did not have a lock on the unit;
Hundreds of dollars worth of tools were stolen while they sat so close by.
I did not like to hear that but thinking it over, I am very mad;
They are lucky their tools were stolen and not their lives!
What if some dead beat junkie walked into their living room and used their own hammer on them?
She is calling the police today and talking with their HOA. The condo manager.
Now she wants to get a taller security fence, they could start with locks and a security door for the living room, motion detectors, an alarm,camera IDK.
I watch enough true crime show to know they got off easy last night.
People are losing it already things may get worst? She in her wheelchair and her husband looking frail are perfect targets for crime;
I told her to buy a condo in a senior housing area where they have night guards walking the grounds; Sometimes I hate being right.

Yes, I used to enjoy May when I worked in Bonn, Germany. We used to get all the holidays in NRW (the Land) as they did all the religious ones of both main persuasions and the customary ones! Brilliant set of 4 or 3 day weeks.
BTW, we used to go to (HU: Fertő-tó) sometimes but it's not quite the same as Balaton.  They did have electric boats which were quite fun.  No electric boats on Balaton.

IDK, If you were in an electric boat in Spain yesterday, would you be out to sea and stuck?
Up S@@@ creek without a paddle?
That was something to have the power off in several countries for hours.
Someone flipped the switch and they are calling it unusual activity...
OK, if anyone believes that.

Haha, the boats were of course, electric battery powered. And it's so shallow there on that border lake (technically a "steppe" lake) than you could just walk back to shore. Same as Balaton really. But all those Balaton rentals are all pedalos and human powered. Too cold for Balaton swimming now but I'm seeing very nice temperatures out to the weekend. As high as 26C!  By mid-June it might be just acceptable for a dip.
Yes, Spain. I wonder if it was a cyber attack. It seems to me more likely than not. It could be a test to see how far a cyber attack could go. Apparently very far!  Portugal was affected because it's totally reliant on Spain as it has no other neighbours.  Looks like parts of France were affected but restoration went fast in those cross border supply areas.
Question is who was responsible if it was bad actors? I can only think of Russia and Putin.  What a stunning success for them and a complete disaster for us.Â
Mrs F thinks the EU knew something of the threat because it had said a while back we should all have cash/food/water for a week. We'll need to know what plans they have in place to safeguard us all.Â
I've now got a note on my desk to get my cheap Chinese generator out to test if it works.  And think about my solar panel project. And think about my plans for a 5000 litres of rain water storage in an underground tank. I was thinking of just using to water the garden but maybe the situation now warrants more serious thinking.  Like installing a UV disinfecting and filtering system - not too expensive. If we'd done it right, we'd have had a separate water supply piping and filtering for things like the washing machine and toilets. Â
I am far too lazy to give it a real try but they say to shut off your power, gas, all of it for a good 24 hours then you will know what you really need to be purchasing.
Too bad the world depends so much on the internet.
We have forgotten how it used to be.
At least my friend in Vegas had her husband buy a few huge loads of canned beans, 12 butane cans that last 6 hours each for cooking.
IDK though, having some loser breaking into your storage unit just 5 feet away from your easy chair is not exactly being on the ball.
She said they took at least $600; to $700; bucks worth of tools and maybe more since they can not remember all that was stored. The brazen bastards set aside some power saw and other items for their return visit!
Her husband got a new sort of lock but who knows, it is scary that people are so desperate and nothing huge has happened yet. They do have a handgun, then again it is something else to own one and other thing to use it.

Spanish say the blackout was a fault that was not a cyber attack.  It suppose we'll find out in the coming days. Someone on the radio said the interconnector between France and Spain was really old and hardly maintained. That could have been the source of the trouble.  We'll see in the coming days.  It's happened before - Western Australia in 2016 (apparently - need to look it up).
Probably the neighbours or their visitors stole the tools from the storage unit.  It'll be someone who knew - like an inside job. Some person locally will be using them or sold them for drugs or booze. If they had marked them using a ultra violet marker pen, then they could go around the pawn shops and check the tools on sale there.  Perhaps they could put up a gunowner's sign or a security sign saying continuous observation.  Thieves might think twice about it then. And a security light coming on with movement. And camera (even if fake with just a flashing light). Or an alarm linked to a phone.
I would be incredibly upset if someone stole my tools. It has happened in the past stuff has disappeared. I don't actually keep my good tools in the shed (which is pretty secure anyway)!  One spends years making a tool collection. It's a massive investment in time and energy.  And very personal.
Meanwhile, I was in the forest with the dog and I came across one of these:
It's not dangerous although it looked annoyed when I gently poked it at arms length with my Nordic walking stick. It was lying right across my path sunning itself.  The dog totally ignored it and possibly didn't even see it. It's known as an and found all over Europe (Google Search helped).  After poking it, it got into an attack position but then slithered off into the undergrowth. Marvellous what you can see in the forest.Â
My friend had a very secure system set up when they had their house in Vegas a few years back. She could monitor all sides of their home on screen from her computer room.
IDK, her husband is dropping the ball allot lately;
He had another round of facial surgery yesterday, he has cancer on his face now!
He turned 77 recently too; Not that that age is super old but he had radiation on his head area for throat cancer and might also have chemo brain.
My friend can be demanding, bugging him to do things she wants done when she wants them done;
She told him to put his tools in the shed because she did not want to look at them in the closet.
She had a bad case of OCD. He may also have OCD. Not a thing is out of place in the homes; He even painted inside their closet which was not needed.
I was a bit OCD years ago but she is extreme.
At her old home we were afraid to use her extra WC , I made sure no drops of water were left on her sink.
She probably had her husband fumigate after we left.
Snakes, lizards and rats, no thanks!
Yesterday we were parked in a lot with a concrete area with dry grass around it; I sat in the car and swa first one , then 4 then 4 at a time small lizards running around the wall and running into the grass!
Yikes!
Snakes, well besides that nasty rattle snake that almost got my brother when he was 3, I had another incident with a huge Boa Constructor.
I was around 11 or so and walking home alone from school;
Took another st; behind ours just to see a different st.
Was going along with my head in the clouds when thankfully I looked down at the sidewalk.
Less then 6 feet in front of me was a monster of a snake just taking in the sunshine.
I jumped back about a mile!
Crossed the st.and never walked that way home again.
Years ago we spent a couple days in Ca visiting my brother, he was single then and just raising his teen son alone.
He had a glass tank with a smaller but just as creepy Boa in it! So hard for me to relax those days!
He was snake sitting for a friend!
