Renewing Permesso with soon to expire visa

My Permesso expires 06/05/17 but my visa in my passport does not expire until 15/07/2017.聽 I am filling out the kit now for my renewal.聽 Will they renew the Permesso even though the visa will expire soon?聽 I should mention that this was for elective residency.聽 Thank you for any insight you may be able to provide!

The visa expiration will not affect your renewal; the visas of all people with an elective residence permesso expire at the end of one year. I do find it curious that your permesso expires two months before your visa.聽 Usually, the first elective residence permesso is issued for the same time period as the visa.
