Kindle's and eBooks

Does anyone know if you can download ebooks to Kindle and other electronic readers while you're in Italy?

You can download ebooks to Kindle from anywhere, but the availability of the books to download depends on where your Kindle is registered. If you live in Italy then your Kindle will be automatically registered to Europe, but not the UK; which means you can only shop for ebooks on the Amazon.com website, not the UK one. THis unfortunatley restricts some choices - I wanted to get various PG Wodehouse collections for my Kindle but none of the titles I want are available on the US site, although they are on the UK site. But there isn't any way around it - unless you have an address in the UK.

I havenÂ’t yet bought a Kindle but I do have Kindle for pc and can download books from Amazon UK. IÂ’ve delayed buying an actual Kindle as to obtain one in Italy IÂ’d have to order from the USA so I decided to wait until my next visit to the UK and order from Amazon UK, using a friendÂ’s address for delivery - that way it will be registered in the UK. Just wondering if, to overcome your problem, you could download the Kindle for pc software (itÂ’s free) and then buy from Amazon UK, downloading books to pc to transfer to your Kindle. Just a thought! Ciao Steve
