To be honest as an 草榴社区 that has companies in Latvia and has worked as Director for International Corporations around the Baltic states .. and North Russia.
Until Latvia get's it's Govt's head out of it's EU backside .. Latvia will never be a job opportunity.
Sorry but Nationalism and Govt's lack of understanding of real needs and situation in the region will hold everything back and only benefit the few.
This is not just a view held by myself --- I socialise and work with many Latvians and they ALL say the same ... they see their money buying less each day ... shops closing down ... Companies making people redundant ...
I've watched Latvia go down since moving out here in late 1993 ... For me - it's not a problem as I am able to use my skills freelancing outside Latvia ... but I feel for the people unable to do similar. Many in Latvia are left in difficult situations with no sign of change.
You only have to look at the workers that left Latvia to get better work elsewhere ... ask why ?
I put back into Latvia whatever I can - in return for the life I have ... but I am a lucky man.
I have seen more Pawn shops open last year or so than ever before ...
Utility Companies like LATGAS require pre-payment for LPG ... shops have less range of what was already limited goods .. Not everyone wants to live in Riga .. there are much better places in Latvia ... but the price is even less choice in shops.
I hope someone can show me I'm wrong ... but thousands out of work show me I am not wrong ...
