I would like to relocate to Riyadh from Abu Dhabi

thailancharlie

I know that Saudi is growing nowadays. But I have some questions before relocating to Riyadh.

1. Cost of living?

2. Transportation in Riyadh now?

3. How long will take to get an IQAMA for UAE expats?

  1. 30% cheaper than Dubai
  2. Don't rely on public transport. Until you have Iqama, use taxi and then car is a must here. Public transport is pathetic here.
  3. Not sure about Emirati people if there is separate guidelines. But for ²ÝÁñÉçÇøs like us Iqama timelines vary between 3-6 months based on requirements like Education documentation attestation, medical clearance, etc.

1) Not cheaper than Dubai if you live in a compound.  Otherwise cheaper only on rentals.  Everything else costs the same or more (VAT is higher than UAE).

2) Taxis or get your own car.  Forget public transportation.

3) Being a UAE ²ÝÁñÉçÇø means nothing in terms of Iqama process.  You are a non GCC national, period.  Also your question is too generic.  If you have a work visa stamped on your passport then you can get an Iqama within a few weeks of arriving, depending on how efficient your company is.  If you are not at that stage and assuming your company has everything in order and you have all documents attested & ready plus medical done, it can take a few weeks.  If none of this applies then yes, it can take months.

Is it worth to come for more than 20k+ salary in Riyadh?

How much we can save from it?

I have outlined this quite a few times.  The only reasons to leave any job and to relocate are either if you are getting much better career prospects or a big salary jump.  If that doesn't apply to you then I would not bother unless of course you are really unhappy where you are.
