The afterwork culture in Canada

Cheryl

Hello everyone,

Living in Canada is a unique opportunity to discover the different aspects of the local culture and way of life. Today, we would like to invite you to explore the afterwork culture in Canada and how locals get to unwind. Whether it's about meeting people, relaxing, or bonding with your coworkers, it is also a great way to get to know the local customs and habits.

Here are a few questions to start with:

What are the most popular afterwork activities in Canada?

When and where do afterwoks usually take place?

What main cultural differences have you experienced?

How did afterworks help you with your professional and social integration?

Share your experiences, anecdotes and tips to help fellow expats.

Thank you for your contribution.

Hello Cheryl and everyone,

I’m not in Canada yet, but I’m really excited to go and integrate into the local culture! From what I’ve read, one of the cultural differences I’m looking forward to experiencing is the informal nature of afterwork gatherings. In some cultures, socializing with coworkers outside of work is rare or strictly professional, but in Canada, it’s seen as a valuable part of team integration. There seems to be a genuine interest in getting to know each other beyond job roles, which I find very welcoming.

I’m excited to join these kinds of events once I arrive and learn more about the local customs!
