If you live in Puebla you must know how things are there. As for the rest of Mexico, yes the influx of thousands of people from Honduras and Guatemala has increased tensions, especially at the border. The U.S has done everything they can to make things worse. Yet considering the number of displaced people  Mexico is doing the best they can.

I don't feel less safe, but I have no plans to travel toward the border

well, Jon,
I would fix that cap lock if I were you.  I don't know what to make of the agent comment, so I will ignore that. So it seems you do not live in Puebla or any other part of Mexico. You are planning to visit Mexico, ok that makes more sense.

So about the car, depending on where you plan to go I think you would be most unhappy with that car in Mexico. If you just plan to cross the border and be in some city like Rosarito you should be ok. Otherwise, you would have nothing but problems. You would have to pay import fees then you would have to drive on roads that may be very bad. There are lots of potholes, rough roads, and speed bumps plus possible floods.  you need a tough car with good road clearance. It sounds like your car still looks good so I would advise you sell it. Get something with a hard top, convertibles are not only not very secure, but they are not practical.

Not sure that car would even work well in Rosarito.

thank you re convertible. i will sell it. move to mx means leaving the prision of a 40 year marriage.  a lot of guys go back to prison because the freedom and responsibioity are too much. better the safety of jail.
