US citizen getting vaccinated in the US without proof of residency?

Hi!

I need some advice.

For urgent matters I am traveling to the US in April and was thinking about getting a Covid shot, since Germany / Europe messed up and it will take a long time until it's my turn.

The US is doing a great job getting the vaccination rolling, so I would not "steal" someone their shot.

The vaccination is largely organized by the states for their residents. I am not sure how to proceed.

My problem is that I am living in Germany for decades and I do not have an actual proof of residency, also no state issued driver's license. The only thing I still have is a Florida Voter Registration.

I am traveling first around the Northeast, and then will drive down to Florida. Any location on the route would fit. Got a bunch of relatives trying to organize something in Maine / New Hampshire, but the problem with proving residency remains. But that is maybe not necessarily required in every state.

Johnson & Johnson would be terrific, but a mRNA shot would be also fine and provides some protection until I can get a second shot in Germany.

Does anybody have an idea where I could get a shot on the east coast?

Hello,

As a US Citizen I can tell you that each State is handling the vaccination very differently. One State might have you show a US Driver License, and another might not... I think you might run into problems trying to get a shot without being a citizen/resident. I know a lot of people are getting the "extra" or "leftover" dosages at the end of the day at local pharmacies, or grocery stores. FL might be your best bet... They tend to be a mess with most things, which might help you!

You might have issues having the jab in one country and having the second elsewhere. I would suggest having the jab both in the same country.

I had both of my covid shots in Fairfax county in Northern Virginia. No complications just sign up on line and set up an appointment and get your vaccine.
The crowd was so huge, just show your printed appointment. That's what I did.
As some one had mentioned that every state has it own thing going on.

Best option:聽 Check the drugs stores聽 websites such as CVS

or if you are going to Florida Publix may be a best option. They have almost 600 stores around Florida

Also, most grocery stores do have their own pharmacy.聽 Please check them.
I presume you still have your US Passport. If so it makes it easy. Just use your friends residence as your home. No questions asked here.

Here in Texas ... we did have to show ID ... in our case the Texas Drivers License聽 .. and we have this week already a surplus of vaccinations ( all 3 options you can pick from ) this morning they showed 3000 appointments available in our town ....

Not a problem at all.

Best bet is a Walmart in Florida. At present only offering Maderna, that may change.

Picture ID required, proof of legal residency is not required.

Make appointment online. Show up (about 2 weeks later), and return to same location approx 28 days later. Appointment for second shot is made at time of first shot.
