Jobs in Toursim in Rio or elsewhere

razmuk

Hi All,

I am relocating to Brazil in December/January 2013. Already started to search for job opportunities. I do not speak Portuguese yet, but busy studying at the moment! :-)

I am from Poland, but living and working in India for the last 2 years. I work in tourism field - as operations manager of a company that organises bicycle city tours in New Delhi. It is a Dutch company.

Can anyone advise how I could search for jobs of the same/similar profile in Brazil? Does anyone know about interesting tour operators that I could conntact (preferably companies that are into active, educational and eco tourism..).

Is there any company in Rio or other city that organises bicycle tours in the city?

Will be happy to hear your advise! :-)

Hi Razmuk,

Despite the fact that Rio survives on tourism and especially so with the World Cup happening in 2014 and Olympic Games in 2016 for a foreigner finding a job even in tourism is no easy task.

Really without some kind of degree in tourism or administration related to the hospitality industry I really don't know how you would go about finding a company here that might be able to use your services. You should also be aware that Brazilian law requires employers to prove that they have been unable to fill a position with a Brazilian before placing a foreigner in a job.

Maybe a Google search of ecotourism in Brazil will turn up some leads, who knows. The only other option would be to come here on a tourist visa and hunt for a job while here. As far as employment agencies that would be able to help you out, or online placement services... in ecotourism, I highly doubt you will find anything.

Keep studying the Portuguese, if nothing else you sure could pick up some extra bucks acting as a trilingual tour guide for tourists from your home country or that speak English during the upcoming events I mentioned.

Hi William,

Thank you for the reply! I am aware that it is not an easy task.. unfortunately. I also consider an internship as it is always easier to handle the formalities regarding the visa and etc.

I have a tour guide licence and experience in tourism industry, so that could be an asset.聽

Do you know any company that organises bicycle tours in Rio, or any other city? I am curious how it works there :-)

James

Hi Razmuk,

No, sorry I do not know of any such companies. I live in a city about 4 hours from Rio and rarely go there.
