Thinking of early retirement near Cuenca

tim and lesly

My wife and I are 50 and 52 years old respectively. We have been kicking around the idea of early retirement within the next couple of years.
We have become intrigued with the idea of moving to SA with Ecuador being the most likely destination.
We are interested in finding information on what lies south and west of Cuenca along highway eighty. We would like to be close enough to Cuenca that we could drive in as needed but live in a more rural mountain setting.

I havent done any free ads, it's just a nice web site with videos of Ecuador and Cuenca, it has pricing information, visa, work and so on, I think it's a great page for info.

I live in Cuenca.  There are several towns outside of Cuenca that may be what you are looking for.  You really have to come and see.  Just keep in mind that the farther away you are from a major city, the harder it is to get reliable internet.

There is an expat night at Zoe's on Friday (in the Centro Historico) from ± 17H00 to 19H00.  It's a good place to meet people.  There is another on Tuesday nights.  Check the blog eddsaid for more info on this night..

Hope this helps.
