Are advanced eyeglass lenses available in Cuenca?

AndisGr8Travels

Greetings!

I'm coming to Cuenca in about a week for a multi-month stay.

Like so many things here at home in the US, eyeglasses beyond the basics are quite expensive -- even with insurance.  In Cuenca, are advanced lenses, like no-line progressives with transitions (color-changing for sun protection), available?  I have my own frames and a prescription from my eye doc and just want to get updated lenses.

Any information (including a local referral) will be appreciated.

Cheers!

I have no answers.... I simply appreciate the question and will add one of my own. My husband has a challenging prescription, requiring prisms. Have people with challenging lens prescription needs had good experience in eye examinations in Cuenca?

I paid $180 for the transitions on my eyeglases. Single vision, polycarbonate, thin lens, anti-glare, anti-scratch, total was $480

I always see Dr Fabian Ponche PHD in Centro Olftalmologico Ponce (He has a Facebook page), located on Av del Estadio next to Banco Pacifico. He keeps himself up to date on everyrhing, excellent Doctor.
