It really depends on what you like- coast or sierra?
coast: Salinas, Olon, Crucita, Bahia, the list goes on
sierra: cuenca, cotacachi, quito, cumbaya...

Frequently the back of food labels in Ecuador give cooking instructions based on whether you live on the coast or in the sierras. I have often said, what about the Amazon?

I suppose we need to get back on topic, and I apologize for starting the off-topicness.

GuitarJ: Amy is right -- there are people here who might be able to give you some pointers, but it's tough to recommend a particular place to live without knowing what you're looking for.

Do you want to live in the mountains or on the beach, as Amy asked (or in the Amazon region)? Do you like big cities or small towns? Are you alone, or do you have a family? And a whole bunch of other things that might play a role in choosing the right place.
