snakking norsk

Just in case anybody is looking for a translation and somehow doesn't stumble accross Google's translation service, it's very good!

It can translate text or entire pages (put in the URL).

It's not perfect and it's also little frustrating that it doesn't work with some pages, NAV.no for example.

I don't know whether I should be proud or ashamed to say that I worked on that very translation system before Google took it away.

Anyway, I use as a dictionary.  It has the advantage that it doesn't provide translations into English, but explanations in Norwegian.  This will make for a steep learning curve, but that's a good thing.

That site's acutally pretty good! Nice one.

If anybody else has any free resources like this, please post!

When I started learning I used some software by "Before You Know It".

They do several languages including Norwegian. There is a version you can buy, but there is a cut down free version which is worth looking at. I started with the free one and then upgraded later. It doesn't help with grammar but is quite effective at expanding vocabulary.

Another useful link with a fair few words I doubt would be in a regular text book but that might be useful to people setting up home or looking for work.

I've been using google translate for quiet a while and been very handy so far. And for long I've been waiting for something that google has finally added - Translation of documents !!

Yes...for those of you who aren't aware of it and have been having a tough time at your work place, here it is...you can translate a whole document from a language to another...you just need to upload it and the rest follows.

Well if some1 is asking about accuracy....no complains as long as the work's done :)
